Road to Indie Dev – Episode #13: World and Level Design

I think it really shows when I’m having a good time. And particularly in this transmission I think it is very noticeable.

I can’t deny it, I’m really enjoying the process of creating this game. Perhaps, I’d like to invest even more time in it… but we’ll get to that.

The important thing now is to review the work + advice on world and level design.

In this broadcast we saw two main methods:

-Design of spaces with basic shapes, connected by corridors.

-Random design with objects thrown on a surface.

In both cases, we must seek to rely on narrative and background to create game experiences at the same time we create the map.

Although we must not lose sight of the fact that the very process of creating a world or a level can give us elements that did not exist before in the background, enriching the fictional universe of the game.

Without much further ado, I leave the log of the transmission.
