Who is Emilio Araoz?
Emilio Araoz is an internationally renowned surgeon who fled a tumultuous post-war Spain in his youth to settle in eclectic and intriguing Amerisia. There he developed a successful medical career, with honors, accolades and awards.
But his talent was not the only thing he brought to Amerisia. From Europe, Araoz imported the dangerous and addictive Coctelina, a drug that combines the best effects of Neuro-shots with the most potent effects of traditional chemical drugs. Few know Emilio’s darkest secret, and no one who discovered it has lived to tell the tale.
Clinically, Araoz suffers from Münchhausen´s Syndrome by Proxy, a condition in which the sufferer inflicts injuries or creates symptoms on a dependant, usually a child. In Emilio’s case, he mass-produces addicts and then treats them with his Oniria Foundation for the rehabilitation of cocktail addicts.
In front of his inner circle, Araoz will say that it is a business. But deep down, there is a much more perverse justification, the result of his disorder, in which the surgeon feels a deep satisfaction in being able to “help” all those addicts.
