This year we set out to begin the initiative of explaining core concepts regarding video games. Some time ago, we received feedback that, in our programs, we use many design concepts that not everyone is familiar with. Which makes a lot of sense.
Not everyone needs to know what MDA Framework is. And that’s exactly what we wanted to start with.
As you will see in the program, MDA stands for “Mechanics, Dynamics, Aesthetics”. These concepts, despite having been criticized quite a bit, are still central to Game Design, and serve to help make sense of the design and development of a game.
