We analyze Control [Podcast #20].

What a game that generated mixed feelings in me… On the one hand, I really enjoyed its plot and basic gameplay, I even finished it after completing the 4 hours for the Podcast.

Control is the game you have to play if you love the paranormal. Pretend it’s a version of Stranger Things for adults… Well, not quite, but it is a paranormal marvel. The plot is really gripping, it has a couple of interesting twists and the reality is that it’s not predictable at all, so it becomes very interesting.

The problem? It has too many game mechanics. In fact, it has too many game systems. In fact, there are some elements that, if you don’t pay attention to, you won’t miss anything. For example, the crafting system, the loot and the jukebox (which I don’t think we got to talk about in the Podcast) are all too many. You can easily ignore those systems and progress in the game easily.

What we did say in the Podcast and we were wrong was the reference to the small amount and variety of psychic powers, but it was due to lack of exploration and development in the game. Later on you can unlock many very interesting abilities that add a lot to the flavor of the game.

I don’t want to distract you too much, I’ll leave the program log for you to listen to, don’t forget to subscribe!
