Character Development: Haiko Ikeda

Who is Haiko?

Haiko is the reason Eric Miller is Eric Miller and Elias Ricci is Elias Ricci. Pivotal in the character development of both protagonists, Ikeda was a key figure in the adolescence of both.

Now in prison and serving a life sentence, Haiko was the inspiration for Ricci and Miller to become private investigators, driven by a need for vigilante justice that Ikeda instilled in them.

As a young man, Haiko was a vigilante, a vigilante who wanted to bring a little equality to the mean streets of Amerisia. An uncommon and highly risky task that brought him to the brink of death on more than one occasion, but which in turn earned him a great deal of respect and admiration.

Miller and Ricci were part of his little band of “do-gooders” serving the underprivileged. Elias followed him blindly, feeling a fascination for Haiko that he had never felt (nor would ever feel) in his life.

However, Haiko was hiding a dark secret that Miller discovered. Terrified, Eric anonymously turned him in to the authorities… while Ricci refused to believe the truth. Convinced that his idol had been replaced by an imposter, he vowed to find the truth on his own.

Whether Ricci was already suffering from Capgras by that time, or that episode was the trauma that produced his syndrome, no one knows for sure.
